It’s always extremely difficult to summarize what each wedding means to me as a photographer- but this one in particular is very hard. Andrew, the groom, and I basically grew up together summering on Cape Cod. Our parents were good friends and so all of the kids spent our summers burying each other in the sand, eating lobsters, and eventually sneaking out of the house late at night to cause mischief on the nearby golf course. Andrew was always a ton of fun to be around and always had (and still has…) the most entertaining stories to tell – he is the definition of the “life of the party.” So when Andrew met Rachel, equally as delightful and fun to be around, everyone knew he had met his match.
I could not have been more honored to capture their day in Baltimore. There’s really nothing like experiencing a wedding day through the eyes of a couple you adore – and when it’s two friends it means even more.
Their day started with a sweet “first look” on Bond Street Wharf that took my breath away. The excitement in Rachel’s eyes as she approached her waiting groom brought me to tears. Their sweet and very personal ceremony (performed by Rachel’s uncle) was followed by a cocktail hour in the Frederick Douglass Museum, and a gorgeous tented reception out by the pier. When they were announced at their reception and entered to M83’s Midnight City, the happiness on their faces brought me to tears again (who doesn’t cry to electronica music?) The band “Just the Tip,” a rock n’ roll cover band out of New York City, seriously rocked the dance floor like I’ve never seen before. When two people as fun as Rachel and Andrew get their families and friends all in the same room, it is an invitation for quite the party.
Thank you so much Rachel and Andrew for allowing me to capture your day! I loved every moment.
